A-star gazing to the past
Just to come up with the present, tight-ass, tense
And Jeanne plays the pretty girl
A pretty girl a-raving round the bend
Then to come up with another pearl
Remembers how they made it way back when
He really loved her laughing
And Jeanne seems to understand

She's Jamie's ticket to the Promised Land
And how she loved Jamie.
Now she's Jamie's friend
Jamie's digging in the dirt
Jeanne's playing parlour games again
Affects feeling very hurt
When Jamie won't remember all their names
Or pretty faces laughing
Incandescent from these shadowlands
"Weren't they the days!" says Jamie
What do they know anyways" says Jeanne
Yes she understands these days
... And Jeanne stays
Now Jamie's into decadence
Jeanne says "it's heaven - heaven sent"

So Jeanne brings her pretty girls
Jeanne going round the bend again
But always willing to be told
So she's making love with her brand new friends
Pretty strangers laughing
And Jamie thinks he understands

Now Jeanne's wish is his command
